MK Dons manager Karl Robinson expects on-loan defender Mark Beevers to return to npower League One promotion rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

Beevers joined the Milton Keynes club at the end of August and his temporary stay is set to end after the away game against Brentford on New Year's Eve.

Robinson would like to extend the 22-year-old's deal but does not expect that to be possible.

"I don't think Sheffield Wednesday will let it happen and I don't blame them because we're all fighting for the same position," Robinson told the Citizen.

"He's been a great servant for us while he has been here, and I know he wants to stay. I'd love to keep him but we haven't got the financial strength to lure him here."

Beevers has made 14 league appearances for the Dons and scored during the 3-1 home win over Rochdale on November 5.
