UEFA set to punish Gattuso

UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against Gennaro Gattuso after his head-butt on Tottenham coach Joe Jordan.

The incident took place in the aftermath of AC Milan's 1-0 defeat to Spurs in the San Siro on Tuesday evening, with the 33-year-old going on to apologise.

"I lost control. There is no excuse for what I did. I take my responsibilities for that," the Milan captain said.

"I was nervous. We were both speaking Scottish, something that I learned when I played in his home city of Glasgow, but I can't tell you what we said.

"I didn't want to argue with players and I did it with him, but I was wrong to do what I have done. I will have to await what they decide."

UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body will meet next Monday to discuss the case, with Gattuso expeced to be hit with a lengthy ban.
