Kildare’s Peter Kelly is hoping to make up for lost time in 2012 after sitting out the entire 2011 season.
The 2010 All Star defender had to watch on from the sidelines as a cruciate knee ligament injury robbed him of the opportunity to play a part in his side’s run to the All-Ireland quarter-finals.
After a super personal season in the year before he is now fully fit again and will return to Lilywhite colours in Sunday’s O'Byrne Cup clash with Dublin IT, and he cannot wait to get back out on the competitive field.
"I'm looking forward to it now; it's been a long time coming," Twomilehouse clubman Kelly told the Irish Independent.
"Kildare wanted me to play from the start of the year because I've been out for so long. UCD are fine with it, and I'll be playing with them in the Sigerson.
"I'm not being thrown in at the deep end. I played a little bit with the club and I've been training away. I did all the pre-season so I'm grand now.
"It's a lifetime ago at this stage. I was on such a high, looking forward to 2011 and I came away without almost any football at all so I can't wait to get back into action. I just need to get as much game time as possible to get the sharpness back."
