Martinez moves in on Blues star

Wigan are lining up a move for Birmingham City winger Jean Beausejour after having a bid accepted for the player.

It's understood talks are now taking place about a deal to bring the Chile international to the DW Stadium, with the Blues having reluctantly agreed to sell him as they need to trim their wage bill to ease financial concerns.

The 27-year-old moved to St Andrew's in January 2010 and has been enjoying an impressive season for Chris Hughton's men which hasn't gone unnoticed by Latics boss Roberto Martinez.

The Spaniard has been keen on Beausejour for some time and actually tried to sign him during the summer transfer window but the switch failed to materialise.

Martinez is working around the clock to bring in new players before the close of the transfer window at the end of the month as he looks to boost his side's top-flight survival chances.
