Ruddy admits England desire

Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy has admitted to being flattered by talk he could earn a call-up to the England squad.

Ruddy turned in another impressive performance in goal for the Canaries on Saturday, catching the eye to deny Chelsea in the 0-0 draw.

That shutout was Norwich's first clean sheet of the season as they continue to hold their own in the top flight after being promoted last season from the Championship.

Ruddy's displays have led to speculation he could earn an England call-up as cover for number one Joe Hart and the former Everton man would be proud to represent the Three Lions - even if a summer trip to the European Championships would clash with his planned wedding.

"It is nice to be linked with England, but I know that only happens if I am playing well with Norwich. That is the main thing," he said.

"It would obviously be a great honour for me and my family to get in the squad. I have got my wedding in June, so we will see what happens.

"I guess I would have to ask the missus. I am sure I could get the day off and then maybe take her on holiday to Poland and Ukraine - kill two birds with one stone - but I am focused on Norwich."
