Foster reveals Ridgewell hopes

by Setanta Staff , 27 January 2012 football news

Goalkeeper Ben Foster has backed West Brom's bid to sign his former Birmingham team-mate Liam Ridgewell from the Championship club.

Foster knows all about defender Ridgewell's qualities from when the pair were in the same side at St. Andrew's last season.

The Baggies have already had one bid rejected for Ridgewell and are weighing up whether to make another offer before Tuesday's transfer deadline.

"Liam would be a fantastic signing for us. He can play at left-back or centre-half and is a great player. If the deal could be done, I would be very happy to see him at West Brom," Foster said.

"New faces are always welcome. It keeps the squad fresh and gives the manager options - especially with the recent injuries we've suffered."
