Mourinho better than Guardiola - Carlos

by Setanta Staff , 30 January 2012 football news

Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos believes that Jose Mourinho is a better coach than Pep Guardiola despite Barca's recent dominance.

Mourinho has enjoyed incredible success as a coach, winning the Champions League with Porto and Inter Milan, while winning two Premier League titles while in charge of Chelsea.

But he has been unable to get the better of the Catalans since moving to the Bernabeu and has coached the winning side just once in his tussles with Barca in the past couple of seasons.

The Champions League winners dumped Real out of the Copa del Rey last week and they are hot on their heels in La Liga, but Carlos is in no doubt as to who the best coach is.

"Mourinho is still number one - for his character, his style of play, because every team that he has directed has won," he told Marca.

"We'll see if Guardiola can win if he goes to Chelsea or Inter, then we can say who is best."

However, the Brazilian ace still feels that Guardiola is a very good coach, adding: "Pep is a modern coach, he's intelligent, brave, likes football and always has the players on his side.

"He knows a lot about football, but Mourinho's success in all countries where he has been confirms him as the best.

"Spain has the two best coaches in the world."
