Saxons duo in Six Nations squad

by Setanta Staff , 30 January 2012

Thomas Waldrom and Matt Banahan have been included in the England squad ahead of Saturday's Six Nations opener against Scotland.

Leicester forward Waldrom and Bath back Banahan have been included for the trip to Murrayfield because of injuries to Henry Trinder (ankle) and Luke Narraway (calf).

Both players played in the Saxons' 23-17 win over fellow second-string side, the Irish Wolfhounds, on Saturday.

Waldrom, who was also an injury replacement at the World Cup, scored a second-half try in the game, while Banahan played on the wing.

England's interim coach Stuart Lancaster is already without Leicester Tigers duo Toby Flood (knee) and Manu Tuliagi (calf), as well as Northampton pair Courtney Lawes (knee) and Tom Wood (foot) for the Calcutta Cup clash.
