QPR are locked in talks with Lazio over a move for Djibril Cisse as they target another three signings before the transfer deadline.
Mark Hughes took the number of January arrivals to four with the loan signing of Mali international midfielder Samba Diakite from Nancy but he will not stop there and wants more new arrivals.
Former Liverpool striker Cisse is one player that Hughes is keen to sign but there is still plenty of work to be done before it can be rubberstamped.
The R's boss has also ruled out the possibility of a swap deal involving Adel Taarabt.
"No, there is no swap deal," he said. "We are trying to work hard on a number of deals and obviously Djibril Cisse is a player that I have admired. He knows the Premier League and I think he would be good for us.
"It is difficult to conclude these deals and you are never sure until they are actually confirmed and have all the paperwork in front of you.
"We are not at that point yet with this one."
