Gignac snubs Everton switch

by Setanta Staff , 02 February 2012 French ace snubs Everton switch

Andre-Pierre Gignac says he turned down the chance to join Everton in January because the club is not big enough.

The 26-year-old was the subject of much speculation during the January transfer window but opted to stay with Marseille rather than move to England with Everton.

Gignac is out of favour with the French club but clearly has a high opinion of himself after declaring he would only move to a top four club in the Premier League.

"Everton is a top Club in England but for me Marseille is bigger and more attractive," Gignac told skysports.com. "I want to play one day abroad but at a bigger club like the Manchester Uniteds of this world.

"I do want to make a name for myself at Marseille. I love the club."
