Hodgson calls for more from Tchoyi

West Brom boss Roy Hodgson praised Somen Tchoyi for his equaliser at Fulham, but believes he could improve defensively.

The Cameroonian grabbed the Baggies' equaliser in the 82nd minute at Craven Cottage on Wednesday, just five minutes after replacing Simon Cox.

Hodgson was delighted with Tchoyi's strike, and indicated he is considering handing him a starting spot when Swansea visit the Hawthorns on Saturday.

"Tchoyi is a dangerous player," Hodgson told the Birmingham Mail. "He's unpredictable but he has got ability.

"At one-nil with about 12 minutes left to play I thought I'd give him a chance.

"An opportunity came his way and he took it well. It wasn't easy but a good strike on goal. I think he is more than capable of playing from the start."

However, while Hodgson may have been delighted with Tchoyi's display at Craven Cottage the Baggies boss believes the midfielder still has areas of his game he can improve on.

He added: "When you bring Somen on you do worry that what he might be able to replicate offensively he might not be able to replicate defensively."
