Hodgson hoping for injury relief

by Setanta Staff , 02 February 2012 football news

West Brom boss Roy Hodgson has revealed Chris Brunt, Shane Long and other injured stars are closing in on returns to action.

Brunt was forced to undergo ankle surgery last month, while Long has been sidelined with a digestive problem.

Paul Scharner (Achilles), Billy Jones (hamstring) and Jerome Thomas (ankle) are also closing in on a return to action, while Zoltan Gera may yet return this season after suffering a knee injury earlier in the campaign.

Hodgson told the club's official website: "We're hoping within a month we'll get Brunt back. Long will also be fit very soon.

"Scharner is training, as is Jones, and Reid came on tonight. Thomas could recover for the weekend.

"So, there are a lot of positives in that respect as well."
