Hughes hails Cisse impact

by Setanta Staff , 02 February 2012 football news

Mark Hughes believes Djibril Cisse could prove to be the difference as QPR battle to pull away from the drop zone.

Cisse grabbed a goal on his debut as Rangers were held to a 2-2 draw at Aston Villa on Wednesday night and Hughes believes he will be a major asset between now and the end of the season.

"I thought Cisse was excellent and everyone can understand now why I wanted to bring him to the club," Hughes revealed. "We only got clearance for him to play as I was walking into the entrance at Villa Park when a text came through. "

But he is going to be vital for us.

He was bright, intelligent and powerful.

"The fact he has already played in the Premier League (with Sunderland and Liverpool) was a factor in signing him because it means he can hit the ground running. "

It is difficult in January to bring players in who do not know the Premier League."

Rangers had raced into a 2-0 goal lead thanks also to a Stephen Warnock own goal but Villa fought back to rescue a point with strikes from Darren Bent and Charles N'Zogbia.
