Niall McNamee has returned to the Offaly senior football panel for the 2012 season.
McNamee took the brave step of revealing he had a gambling problem before the turn of the New Year and he underwent treatment in the hope of breaking the habit.
He has returned to training but will need more time before he is ready to be considering for a starting berth, meaning he will miss Sunday's Allianz Football League Division Three opener against Longford.
"I am glad to welcome him back. I believe he's in a good place. He is working with his programme and that is the most important part of his life at the moment," Offaly manager Gerry Cooney said.
"To his credit, he is dealing with his problems and he should be allowed to get on with his life. His family and friends will benefit from that and if Offaly football benefits, well and good. He has made a start and we need to allow him the time and space he needs."
