Nelsen completes Tottenham move

by Michelle Fortune , 02 February 2012

Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Ryan Nelsen on a free transfer.

Nelsen's contract at Blackburn Rovers was terminated just moments before the January transfer window closed on Tuesday night and immediately he was linked with a move to Tottenham.

The defender's agent confirmed a deal had been agreed between the two parties but they were awaiting confirmation that the move had gone through.

"We are delighted to announce the signing of defender Ryan Nelsen," Tottenham revealed on their website.

"The New Zealand international joins us from Blackburn Rovers where he spent seven years and made over 200 appearances."

No details of the contract have been released but it has been reported that Nelsen will join Tottenham until the end of the season as a replacement for Sebastien Bassong, who joined Wolves on loan.
