Giggs drops United deal hint

Ryan Giggs has admitted that he still feels good and he is ready to open new contract talks with Manchester United.

The former Wales international wing wizard is approaching the period of the season when he ponders over whether he could stretch his playing career to another 12 months.

And, following an impressive first half to this current campaign which has seen him make 21 appearances, it appears that Giggs is confident he would be able to do a job for Sir Alex Ferguson in the 2012/13 season which would take him beyond his 39th birthday and 900 appearances for United.

Giggs, who has won 12 Premier League titles at Old Trafford, is also keen not to emulate team-mate Paul Scholes by quitting too early and then regretting the move before performing a U-turn as the former England international has done this term.

Giggs told the Manchester Evening News: "He was still the best in training with the reserves, so he obviously felt he could still do it.

"Nobody was going to disagree with that and it was a massive boost when we found out he was coming back before the Manchester City game.

On his own future, Giggs, who claims he has already achieved his ambition of overtaking Sir Bobby Charlton's number of appearances for the Red Devils, added: "I'll just see where it takes me.

"We'll sit down pretty soon and see what we want to do but at the moment I feel good and I want to carry on."
