Scharner rues home form

Defender Paul Scharner admits he is at a loss to explain West Brom's home form ahead of Sunday's trip to Wolves.

The Baggies have managed just two wins and two draws from their 12 Premier League ties at the Hawthorns to date this season, and Scharner admits he cannot explain their problems on home soil.

He told the Birmingham Mail: "It's a good question why we can't do well at home and if I start talking I might be here for a long time - I don't have the time to do that.

"It seems we're so well organised on the defence that it suits us more away as we don't have to make the play and the crowd is not awaiting anything.

"That's the difference at home because we're expected to dominate the game and at the moment we're not winning.

"Saturday (West Brom 1-2 Swansea) was another home defeat and it's a very poor run we're on."

The Baggies are six points clear of the relegation zone and Scharner is keen for results to improve at the Hawthorns in order for his side to push up the table. However, the versatile Austrian is aware that West Brom's away form has been impressive and is keen to continue picking up points on the road, even if their home form suffers as a result.

He added: "We are still involved in that relegation battle but we need to get our home record right.

"We can't give the fans that at the moment so you can't blame them for booing us from the field. Sunday is an away game and maybe that's good.

"We have to look to away games because that's where we're getting points.

"The Wolves game is a special one and a derby so the rules are different. We have to be very strong because they got three points against QPR and the table is getting close."
