Samba rift worsens

Blackburn's Chris Samba has reportedly missed a reserve game Rovers had wanted him to play in, making a summer exit all the more likely

The 27-year-old defender handed in a transfer request last month after growing disillusioned with life at Ewood Park under the ownership of the Venkys Group.

However, a January move never materialised and Ryan Nelsen's deadline day move to Tottenham means the club need him more than ever.

The Congolese stopper has not played for the club since asking to leave and was left out of the squad for the clash with Arsenal last weekend ahead of peace talks with Rovers boss Steve Kean.

It has been reported that Kean wanted Samba to play in a reserve fixture against Carlisle on Tuesday with a view of recalling him for next weekend's crucial relegation clash at home to QPR.

However, it is believed Samba failed to play or even train with the first-team, meaning he is unlikely to bolster a defence that will also be without the suspended Gael Givet for the visit of Mark Hughes' men.

QPR, Tottenham and PSG were all linked with a move for Samba during the January transfer window but no move was agreed, leaving Samba in limbo.
