Vela eyes Gunners exit

Carlos Vela says he does not want to return to Arsenal and is targeting a permanent move to Real Sociedad.

The Mexico international has always been highly rated by the Gunners but struggled to make an impact in the first team and has been loaned out to Salamanca, Osasuna and West Brom in recent seasons.

Now the 22-year-old is settled with Sociedad and is hoping the two clubs can come to an agreement that will see him stay with the Spanish side beyond the end of the season.

"It is too early to talk about these issues, but I do not close the door to Real. But, if you cannot reach an agreement with Arsenal, you cannot do anything," Vela told El Diario Vasco.

"As I said, I'm happy here and would like to help the team stay up. Then we'll see what happens in the summer. Right now, we cannot do anything even if we wanted to."
