Cleverley gunning for return

by Michelle Fortune , 11 February 2012

Tom Cleverley is itching to get back on a football pitch and is confident he can add something to Manchester United's title push.

After spending last season on loan with Wigan Cleverley returned to Old Trafford in the summer and made a blistering start to his United career until it was cut short by an ankle injury.

Having worked hard to regain his fitness the 22-year-old has praised the physio team at Old Trafford who have helped get him back to where he needs to be for the busy title run-in.

"The comeback has been a long time coming but I've worked hard for it and hopefully I can be successful again. I feel 100 per cent," Cleverley said.

"I've always said the most frustrating time for a footballer is when you're injured.

"To be told you can't do your job for 10-12 weeks is massively hard to deal with. But the physios have got me in tip-top shape for the run-in.

"I'm very confident in my ability and feel like I can add something."

In Cleverley's absence, Paul Scholes made an unexpected return to the United team and he is relishing the opportunity to start alongside Old Trafford legend.

"I always looked up to David Beckham but now Paul Scholes is the man. I used to watch him as a kid, so to play alongside him would be a real pleasure," Cleverley is quoted as saying in The Sun.
