Holt bags brace as Canaries counter

by Tony Cuddihy , 11 February 2012

Grant Holt scored a second half brace as Norwich came from behind to beat Swansea 3-2 at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

Danny Graham gave the Swans the lead when he calmly slotted in a cross from Nathan Dyer in the 23rd minute, and it seemed that the Welsh club's impressive home form would continue.

However, Norwich were ahead within six minutes of the restart.

Firstly, Holt headed home via a deflection off Ashley Williams after Andrew Surman had done well to keep Russell Martin's skied attempt at a volley in play on the byline.

Norwich had their second via another deflection.

The impressive Elliott Bennett teed up Anthony Pilkington and the Irishman's shot struck Neil Taylor and deceived Michel Vorm.

Steven Caulker hit the post from a Gylfi Sigurdsson corner, while Scott Sinclair was guilty of a poor headed miss from a Dyer centre.

Norwich went 3-1 up when Bennett capitalised on a three-on-two situation and fed Holt, who beat Vorm from a tight angle.

A tense finish was set up when Holt felled Williams in the box, Graham scoring the penalty, but ultimately it was a fine win for Paul Lambert's side.
