Tottenham winger David Bentley is looking for a temporary escape route from White Hart Lane in America according to his agent.

Bentley's representative Rob Segal has revealed that the 27-year-old has expressed his desire to secure a loan move to MLS in order to build-up his match fitness.

The 27-year-old had began the season with West Ham but the England international's season long link-up with the Championship side was cut short in October by a knee injury that required surgery.

However, he is now closing in on a return and has part of his rehabilitation, the former Blackburn and Arsenal man would like to play some football abroad.

Segal told The Sun: "This is something that is interesting for David, as it will also get him fit.

"He would like to go there on loan as soon as possible."

It's understood Vancouver Whitecaps, who have also been showing an interest in Middlesbrough midfielder Barry Robson, are leading the way for his signature.
