Roberto Martinez says Victor Moses wants to stay at Wigan but admits the club will have to remain in the Premier League.

The youngster has come on leaps and bounds since arriving from Crystal Palace and Martinez is keen to get him tied down to a new contract following some impressive performances this season.

Queens Park Rangers are known to be interested in the winger, who put in another fine display against Bolton at the weekend, while there will be other interested parties come the summer.

Martinez says talks have taken place over a new deal and the player is keen to stay but much will depend on what division Latics find themselves in next season and the Wigan boss admits it has to be the Premier League.

All talks are on hold until the summer but Martinez is confident the player will stay as long as they avoid the drop.

"Victor is growing all the time," Martinez told wigantoday.net. "He is taking responsibility and learning to look up and deliver the final pass, and this is turning into the biggest season of his career.

"He plays a massive role for us and is an important asset. There have been developments in the talks over a new agreement, and I am sure we are going to be able to extend his contract.

"He has said he wants to stay, but the situation of the club has to be resolved first. We have to secure our top-flight status, then we can do it."
