Watford seal promotion to Premier League
Watford clinched promotion to the Premier League after they beat Brighton 2-0 in the early Championship kick-off and both Norwich and Middlesbrough failed to win.
Goals from Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra secured the three points for the Hornets at the Amex Stadium to send them four-points clear at the top of the table.
And after Norwich could only draw at Rotherham and Middlesbrough were beaten by Fulham, Slavisa Jokanovic’s side confirmed their return to the Premier League after an eight year absence.
It was a nervy afternoon for Watford players and supporters as they watched Norwich take the lead at Rotherham and Middlebrough fight back at Craven Cottage.
But when the Millers grabbed an equaliser with five minutes remaining and Fulham scored a last minute winner, promotion was confirmed.
Bournemouth will almost certainly join Watford in the Premier League if they can win at Bolton on Monday night, due to their vastly superior goal difference.
