Pochettino slams Belgrade banner
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has slammed the ‘unacceptable banner that was displayed by Partizan Belgrade fans during Thursday’s Europa League Group C clash.
The match, which ended in a 0-0 draw, was overshadowed by an anti-Semitic banner in the home end.
Tottenham officials raised the issue with UEFA, with European football’s governing body set to investigate the matter after taking photographic evidence of the banner, which was an imitation of comedy show Only Fools and Horses.
Pochettino labelled the display as ‘disrespectful and unacceptable’ anti-Semitic banner in the home end.
“I didn’t see it,” Spurs manager Pochettino said. “The club is aware but I did not see [it myself]. But if this is true, then it is an unacceptable thing. It is very disrespectful.
“This is a shame, very disrespectful and unacceptable.”
Tottenham are expected to lodge an official complaint with UEFA in the coming days.
