Aalborg captain Thomas Augustinuessen has told Celtic that the two clubs are battling it out for third place in Group E.
Celtic host the Danish side on Wednesday night and the 27-year-old feels that the Uefa Cup slot is the realistic finishing position for the pair, with Manchester United and Villarreal also in the group.
“If I’m honest, I think we will be going for third place and it would be between ourselves and Celtic,” he told the Daily Record.
“You must always try in football but you must also be realistic. Manchester United are European Champions and you have to think they are going for the first of second place.
“Then Villarreal are a fantastic team and I think those two would be most likely to take first and second places.
“Celtic are always good at home and maybe they can win all their games there and take the second place.
“But if we are going to reach third I would have to say at this stage I feel it is Celtic we are likely to be against for that place and for this reason the matches for us against them will be key.”
