Rennes replace Lacombe with Antonetti

by Ben Blackmore , 02 June 2009

Rennes have replaced outgoing coach Guy Lacombe with former Nice leader Frederic Antonetti.

Lacombe quit Rennes last month in order to take over at fellow Ligue 1 club Monaco.

Now Rennes have announced the appointment of Antonetti, who joins on a two-year contract.

A statement on Rennes' official website read: "Frederic Antonetti has taken control of the first team of Stade Rennais FC. The former coach of Nice has signed a contract for two years at the Breton club."

Antonetti added: "Stade Rennais FC is currently behind Bordeaux, Marseille and Lyon but has the hope one day to rejoin them. This is a project which excites me."
