Drogheda United manager Alan Mathews has admitted that League of Ireland clubs will struggle to pay out any money for new players during the July transfer window.
Mathews, who hopes to bolster his squad by some means, believes clubs will be unable to fork out for new recruits when the window opens in two weeks.
“With the exception of a goalkeeper, I would be looking to strengthen in every position,” he told The Irish Mail on Sunday.
“I would love additional resources, but the reality is that no manager is going to take a punt on a player in this window. Everyone will be extra careful before signing any player.”
However, it appears that one team boss – Dundalk’s Sean Connor – may be in a position to spend a little in July.
"We have three new additions to make to the squad, but I am not going to reveal who they are," he said.
"And we would hope to sign one or two more, if we can move a couple of players out."
