Cork City's Colin Healy has won May's Soccer Writers' Association of Ireland Player of the Month award.
The Rebels were in decent form during May and the ex-Ireland international partook in all five of their league games during the month.
They netted seven goals and conceded none during the first four league ties in May, though since then, results have not been so kind: after a defeat to Bohemians, Paul Doolin's charges lost again to Drogheda United and were held at home by Shamrock Rovers.
Healy said, reflecting on that excvellent four-match sequence: "We were on a great run then, unbeaten for 10 or 11 games. Things have fallen off a bit since then but we're confident we can get back on track.
"It's nice to get the award but I wouldn't have got it without the team playing well so it could have gone to any one of us really."
Healy has scored two league goals this term and started every game; when one considers that he did not play a single game of first-team football between December 2003 and March 2006 after suffering two broken legs, it emphasises his present good health.
