The FAI will give each Premier Division club in the League of Ireland €15,000 in the coming weeks to ease financial worries.
The league is about to have its two-week break and, given the lack of matches and consequent gate receipts, the fortnight is traditionally a tricky period for the clubs.
The FAI's cash injection is part of the prize-money that each club is entitled to get at the end of the season.
"We have guaranteed clubs a minimum amount during the year," explained FAI Internal Compliance Officer Padraig Smith to the Irish Daily Mail on Sunday.
"It means each club will get €15,000 at the end of this month and it is hope that this little cash injection will get them over the next few weeks. We have done projections and saw that this was the toughest time of the year for clubs."
The FAI also denied that Bohemians received an advance on money for participating in the upcoming Champions League.
"It [is] not FAI policy to give clubs loans that go towards their operating costs."
