Clare boss Ger 'Sparrow' O'Loughlin is hoping that John Conlon's injury is not as bad as first feared.

Conlon, one of the stars of the Banner county's historic All-Ireland under-21 success last year, was forced off after 42 minutes against Dublin when playing for NUIG in the Walsh Cup on Saturday.

The Clonlara forward is suspected to have suffered a leg fracture in the 0-12 to 2-16 defeat to Anthony Daly's men at Portmarnock.

"We are hoping for the best possible news on John because I can't tell you how important he is to our plans this season," O'Loughlin admitted.
