The Limerick hurling panel have reiterated their stance that they will not play for the county while the current management structure is in place.
In a damning statement, handed over ahead of tonight's EGM of all county board delegates, the players identified a number of areas of concern going back to last November.
The players say the dispute escalated because McCarthy was unable to name specific instances where discipline was breached or a lack of commitment was shown.
Their statement read: "At no time over the course of approximately 100 training sessions or gatherings did Mr McCarthy make any reference to a 'lack of discipline or commitment.' Indeed on several occasions, he made the point that this Limerick team was the 'most committed he'd ever worked with and were a pleasure to train.'"
The statement was signed by 24 players, who also claim that the management only agreed to meet the players after they had threatened not to play.
The players also strongly deny that any player was coerced into joining in the dispute.
The statement continued: "It is important to stress that at no point was any individual player unduly influenced or forced into making a decision by any other player regarding his future involvement with the 2010 Limerick hurling squad. This decision is, and has been at all times, left up to the individual as no player should stand in the way of the career of another player."
