Keane and McGeady train

Robbie Keane and Aiden McGeady took full part in the Republic of Ireland’s training session at Malahide on Tuesday.

Keane and McGeady missed Monday’s session as they were en route from Los Angeles and Moscow respectively, but they joined the rest of the squad on the training pitch at Gannon Park on Tuesday morning.

Aston Villa defender Ciaran Clark was also present after being called into the squad following confirmation of the news that Sean St Ledger would miss the World Cup qualifiers against Germany and the Faroe Islands through injury.

There was some concern over Kieren Westwood’s absence, but assistant manager Marco Tardelli later confirmed that the Sunderland goalkeeper had been rested and was training in the gym.

Manager Giovanni Trapattoni is without Richard Dunne, Glenn Whelan, James McClean and Kevin Doyle for the double-header but he has already stated he will not use the injury crisis as an excuse if Ireland were to lose.

If Ireland beat Germany, Setantabet.com will refund all losing goalscorer bets from that match
