Moon out of Breeders’ run

Sea Moon will not be running in the Breeders’ Cup Turf, connections have confirmed.

The Khalid Abdullah-owned colt finished second to St Nicholas Abbey in the feature at Churchill Downs last year and it was thought he would be heading to Santa Anita next month to try to go one better.

His participation was thrown into doubt when he only managed eighth behind Solemia in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and a report on the internet claimed he would not be going to America.

Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Khalid Abdullah, is unsure where the report came from, but he has confirmed the four-year-old will not run in the Breeders’ Cup Turf.

“The line on the internet is not an official line and we are very unhappy, we don’t know where it has come from,” Grimthorpe declared.

“Sea Moon is not going to the Breeders’ Cup but we are trying to get to the bottom of where the rumour started.”
