Rendall Munroe says he can't wait for his bout with Toshiaki Nishioka after being awarded a shot at the WBC super-bantamweight title.
The Leicester binman has gone from hero to zero in the last few year, capturing the EBU super bantamweight title in a shock victory over Kiko Martinez in Nottingham in 2008.
Munroe beat the Spaniard again in 2009 to prove the first victory wasn't a fluke and has now set his sights on winning a world championship after capturing the Commonwealth title last year.
Munroe's wish has now been granted and he will face Nishioka in October in Tokyo, an opportunity the 30-year-old believes is too good to pass up.
"This is a big opportunity. It makes no difference to me if the fight's in Japan," said Munroe.
"To be a world champion you have to fight world-class fighters in world-class places.
"This is a chance for me to show I'm good enough to be thought of as world-class."
