Bogdan pays Jussi tribute

Bolton keeper Adam Bogdan has paid tribute to team-mate Jussi Jaaskelainen and is ready to take his first-team chance.

Jaaskelainen was sent-off in Bolton's 2-2 draw with Birmingham last weekend for lashing out at Roger Johnson and will now miss the Wanderers' next three fixtures.

Bogdan has now been handed the chance to impress in Jaaskelainen's absence and the 22-year-old is eager to prove his worth in the Premier League.

"It's exciting. What I've realised is you don't get anywhere without hard work," he told the Manchester Evening News.

"Some keepers get a chance at 18 or 19 and play for the first team because they're so good or just get lucky with opportunities.

"But some have to do it step-by-step and that's what I am doing.

"Hopefully, I'll get where I really want to be sooner rather than later."

However, Bogdan was quick to praise Jaaskelainen and believes, despite his needless sending off, the Finnish international sets a great example.

He added: "From Jussi, the biggest thing you can learn is how to be professional.

"Obviously, we have a good relationship and if he sees something I didn't do right, he'll tell me."
