The Tottenham Hotspur front man was substituted by Andy Keogh late on in the 1-0 win over Armenia in Yerevan on Friday, a result that got the Boys in Green’s campaign off to a happy, if nervous, start.
Keane had been troubled by a knee problem and wore a support in training during the week, but manager Giovanni Trapattoni says his late withdrawal was simply a precaution.
The Italian said: "I gave him a little bit of a rest because he had, not an injury, but some pain and I wanted to be cautious about it."
Keith Fahey came off the bench to score the winner for Ireland on Friday and they will now look to make it six points out of six against supposed group whipping boys Andorra, who were beaten 2-0 by Russia in their opening fixture.
Hull City’s Paul McShane is available for Tuesday’s game after recovering from a hamstring injury and Darren O’Dea should be fit after a sprained knee.
