Scholes on squad role

Paul Scholes says he accepts his role as a bit-part player after revealing he felt his Manchester United days were over last Christmas.

The former England international has been the subject of interest from England over a Three Lions comeback and while that is not on the cards, Scholes is taking every game as it comes.

He told MUTV: "At Christmas last season I did not think I would be playing in this one. I wasn't playing well enough."

On his chances this season, Scholes added: "If I am playing well enough, maybe I will play 25 or 30 games.

"You want to play every game but at our age, you can't."
