Jeev Milkha Singh admits he is playing through the pain of a lower back injury, but insists he is "moving in the right direction".
The Indian golfer will play in front of his home crowd at this week's Avantha Masters with much hope and expectation on his shoulders, as he seeks his first European Tour victory since June 2008.
Singh has made the cut in three of his first four tournaments of the year, but is yet to finish inside the top 40 with his best showing 42nd at last week's Dubai Desert Classic.
The 39-year-old is looking to win his first event on home soil and will make this week's tournament his last for a month, as he looks to ease the workload on his body.
The world number 172, who has been in the top 50 in past, admitted: "There is pain and I'm not 100 percent, but I'm feeling much better. This is my fifth week in a row and I'm moving in the right direction."
