Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish has heaped the praise on Charles N'Zogbia after his equalising goal in the draw with QPR on Wednesday.

QPR raced to a first-half 2-0 lead at Villa Park on Wednesday, but Darren Bent reduced the deficit before the break.

McLeish admits the first-half display was simply not got enough, but the Scot felt his side reacted well after the break to secure a point.

"I'd love to see us play the first-half like we play the second. We've got to be at it all the time, we can't turn it on and off," said the Villa boss.

However, McLeish did heap the praise on French winger N'Zogbia, who volleyed in Stiliyan Petrov's cross to secure a point for Villa.

The 25-year-old joined Villa in the summer from Wigan but has failed to deliver on a consistent basis, but McLeish hopes N'Zogbia can now push on and become a consistent performer after his display against the Rs.

"That was much better the finish from N'Zogbia. The performance was much more in keeping of what I'd expect from Charles and hopefully that kick starts his Villa career," said McLeish on N'Zogbia.

"He's had some good games but second-half tonight he was much more electric."
