Run to face up to seven rivals

Long Run will face up to seven rivals in his final run before he heads to Cheltenham to defend his Gold Cup crown.

The star chaser had been due to run at Newbury on Saturday but the card was lost to snow and frost, resulting in the British Horseracing Authority rescheduling the fixture for Friday.

The Betfair Denman Chase was reopened after failing to attract enough runners but just eight horses remain in contention to run in the Grade Two with Long Run leading the way.

Beaten by Kauto Star on both his starts this season, Long Run will be looking to bounce back to winning ways before the Gold Cup but he faces a tricky test.

Nicky Henderson has also entered Burton Port, while Paul Nicholls could saddle both Tidal Bay and What A Friend in the feature.

Alan King has left in Medermit, who has yet to tackle three miles, with The Giant Bolster the only entry for David Bridgewater. Little Josh and Chapel House complete the entries.
