Zokora flattered by Real talk

by Alex Livie , 23 December 2008

Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora has opened the door to a potential move to Real Madrid by admitting he is flattered by talk of interest from the Spanish capital.

Zokora has been linked with a move to Real following the appointment of Juande Ramos as the club’s new manager.

Real signed Lassana Diarra from Portsmouth on Monday and this would suggest a bid for a second holding midfielder is unlikely, but it is clear Zokora has had his head turned by the talk.

"It's fantastic to be associated with Real Madrid as they are one of the biggest club sides in the world - show me the player who would not want to be linked with them,” Zokora told the Daily Express.

Zokora says it would not be a crushing blow were he to remain in North London.

He added: "But I'm very happy here at Spurs and in England. I love England and the English people. My team is doing much better under Harry Redknapp and I am enjoying every minute of it. For me, this is a win-win situation. I cannot lose.

"I love playing for Spurs, but to be associated with Real Madrid is, of course, very flattering."
