Spurs have approached Cavenaghi - agent

by Laurent Picard , 24 December 2008

Fernando Cavenaghi’s agent has claimed that Tottenham have approached the Argentina international, but Spurs are yet to make an offer to Bordeaux.

The prolific striker has scored 11 goals in 19 appearances in the French league, including the glorious winner against Monaco last Sunday, live on Setanta Sports.

It appears Laurent Blanc’s rotation policy does not suit him and, as a consequence, the 25-year-old would be ready to move clubs during the January transfer window.

The striker does not understand why his coach does not start him game in, game out, despite his outstanding statistics.

Cavenaghi’s agent claims Spurs have made contact and could launch an ambitious bid at the start of 2009.

Rodrigo Vilarino told France-Football: “Fernando is disappointed by the lack of regular action. He even hardly understands Laurent Blanc’s choices, regarding his efficiency.

“Tottenham tempted an approach, indeed, but a concrete offer hasn’t been made for the moment.

“The idea would be to find a solution that everybody would benefit from. Bordeaux could pocket a bonus and Fernando could be treated in a better way where he will sign.

“But that’s not easy.”

The player himself told Setanta.com after the Champions League clash with Chelsea that moving to White Hart Lane would interest him.
