Burton Albion’s grip on the Blue Square Premier remains as strong as ever after a 2-1 Boxing Day win at home over York.
Burton Albion 2 York 1
Former Burton defender Mark Greaves helped the Blue Square Premier leaders claim a ninth successive win with a late own goal.
The hosts' long winning run looked set to come to an end when Adam Smith fired York in front after good work from Onome Sodje in the 52nd minute.
But Nigel Clough’s men roared back and were level eight minutes later as Shaun Harrad bundled in after Michael Ingham had parried Ryan Austin’s header.
And with 20 remaining The Brewers were gifted the lead when Greaves diverted a cross beyond Ingham.
Weymouth 0 Torquay 1
Matt Green’s first-half strike helped Torquay claim all three points and moved The Gulls back into second spot.
The visitors took the lead in the 24th minute when recalled striker Green picked his spot from the edge of the box and curled a shot beyond Danny Knowles.
Chances were few and far between thereafter with Torquay comfortably coping with The Terras' toothless attack.
Pierre Joseph-Dubois and James Coutts went closest to an equaliser in the closing stages but Scott Bevan made routine saves to secure the win.
Barrow 1 Wrexham 1
Jefferson Louis grabbed a 93rd minute equaliser to deny Barrow a first league win since the first week of November.
Wrexham dominated the opening exchanges with Bluebirds keeper Alan Martin making fine saves from Marc Williams, Ashley Westwood and Nathan Woolfe.
But Barrow held firm and grabbed the lead on the half hour when Jason Walker cut in from the left and shot past Gavin Ward for his 11th goal of the season.
The Red Dragons piled forward after the break and were finally rewarded when Louis smashed a shot beyond the reach of Martin in stoppage time for his 13th goal of the season.
Cambridge United 2 Histon 2
Histon fought back from 2-0 down at the break to claim a crucial point thanks to goals from Jack Midson and Antonio Murray.
The U’s hit the front in the 15th minute when defender Wayne Hatswell broke forward and hammered a shot beyond Joe Welch.
Histon’s Nathaniel Knight-Percival then had a goal chalked off for offside and Cambridge added a second on the stroke of half-time when Scott Rendell headed in Josh Coulson’s cross.
But The Stutes were level before the hour. Midson bundled in from close range in the 49th minute and ten minutes later Midson turned provider for Antonio Murray to beat Danny Potter and that’s the way it stayed.
Eastbourne Borough 1 Lewes 0
Paul Armstrong’s seventh goal of the season dragged Eastbourne further away from the drop zone and kept Lewes in deep trouble.
Eastbourne went ahead in the 28th minute despite the best efforts of goalkeeper Rikki Banks.
Danny Cullip’s foul on Ashley Barnes gave Armstrong the opportunity from the spot and after Banks saved the spot-kick Armstrong followed-up to fire the ball into the net.
Lewes improved after the break with Chamal Fenelon coming within inches of equalising but Barnes had the chance of the half when he fired against a post.
Ebbsfleet United 0 Grays Athletic 1
Grays substitute Jamie Slabber struck within a minute of coming on to earn the struggling Blues a second successive win.
George Purcell forced a smart save from Steven Arnold with a 25-yard shot in a scrappy first-half as both sides failed to settle.
The second period was much the same until Slabber replaced Scott Forrester with 12 minutes remaining and within 60 seconds he headed the winner from Wes Thomas’ cross.
Kettering 1 Mansfield 3
Late goals from Aaron O’Connor and Nathan Arnold fired Mansfield to a second successive win and boosted caretaker bosses Adie Moses and Mark Stallard’s chances of earning the job on a full-time basis.
The Stags took the lead in the 26th minute when on-loan Nottingham Forest striker Emile Sinclair latched onto James Kay’s pass and smashed past Lee Harper.
But Kettering were level seven minutes later. Moses fouled former Town striker Iyseden Christie in the box and he picked himself up to convert from 12 yards.
O’Connor benefitted from good work by Sinclair to regain the lead ten minutes from time and Arnold made the game safe five minutes later when he latched onto Jason Lee’s flick to fire beyond Harper.
Kidderminster 1 v Forest Green 1
Kidderminster defender Martin Riley spared goalkeeper Adam Bartlett’s blushes as high-flying Harriers were held by Forest Green.
The struggling visitors stunned the home side a minute before the break when England C keeper Bartlett punched Lee Fowler’s corner into his own net.
But the lead lasted less than 60 seconds as Riley hammered in Martin Brittain’s corner.
Harriers were the better side after the break but it was Rovers who had the best chance when Curtis McDonald fired wastefully wide with just Bartlett to beat.
Northwich 0 Altrincham 1
Former Northwich loanee Greg Young came back to haunt rock-bottom Vics with a second-half winner.
The home side started brightly but Peter Winn and Darryn Stamp failed to take decent chances in the opening half hour.
On the half hour Altricnham squandered a great chance to go ahead when leading scorer Colin Little saw his penalty saved by Scott Tynan after Ryan Brown had fouled Chris Senior.
Dale Johnson and Lee Elam also went close after the break before Young grabbed the winner 16 minutes from time when he bundled in Senior’s cross.
Salisbury 2 Oxford United 1
Chris Wilder got off to a nightmare start as Oxford boss as struggling Salisbury took all of the points.
The Whites stormed in front in the fourth minute when Charlie Griffin headed in Liam Feeney’s corner.
And City had a second in the 17th minute with Feeney again the provider for on-loan Southend striker Charles Ademeno to fire past Billy Turley.
U’s youngster Sam Deering got one back ten minutes after the break but despite late pressure The Whites held-on for the win.
Stevenage 3 Rushden & Diamonds 1
Stevenage hotshot Steve Morison helped himself to another two goals as Rushden swept aside woeful Rushden at Broadhall Way.
It took until four minutes before the break for Morison to break the deadlock when he fired beyond the reach of Dale Roberts.
Strike partner Lee Boylan added a second two minutes after the break with a delightful finish before Morison grabbed his second on 58 with a fierce shot from the edge of the penalty area.
Diamonds striker Lee Tomlin got one back 14 minutes from time with a smart finish but it was too little too late.
Woking 0 Crawley Town 0
High-flying Crawley failed to take advantage of Giuseppe Sole’s first-half sending off as both sides finished with ten men.
A dour first half came to life three minutes before the break when Sole saw red for a nasty tackle on Thomas Pinault.
Michael Malcolm forced a good save from Simon Eastwood after the break and Jamie Cook also went close before Danny Forrest evened up the sides eight minutes from time after a dreadful tackle on Matt Pattison.
