Weymouth 0 Rushden & Diamonds 9

Rushden & Diamonds ran riot against a severely under-strength Weymouth, who were forced into make 11 changes as their financial problems prevented their first-choice players from taking part.

Michael Rankine put the visitors on their way after just eight minutes and Lee Tomlin grabbed a quick double to give the Terras a three-goal lead.

Chris Hope made it four before half time and Rankine had his second just four minutes after the break, before Rob Wolleaston grabbed the pick of the bunch with a delightful curling shot into the top corner.

Marcus Kelly then helped himself to two well-taken goals before Kurt Robinson rounded off the win with a fine low drive.

Kettering 2 Torquay 1

Kettering did their play-off credentials the world of good with a hard-fought victory over fellow promotion hopefuls Torquay.

Senegal forward Jean-Paul Marna broke the deadlock after just nine minutes when his drilled effort flew into the bottom corner after smart work from Andre Boucard.

And Gareth Seddon doubled The Poppies’ lead on 12 minutes, smashing home from the spot after Wayne Carlisle was adjudged to have handled in the box.

Kevin Nicholson gave Torquay hope with a fine 20-yard strike on the stroke of half time, but The Gulls could not find the equaliser in the second half.

Histon 3 Eastbourne Borough 3

Antonio Murray’s last-gasp equaliser rescued a point for promotion-chasing Histon in this six-goal thriller with Eastbourne.

The Stutes were two goals to the good after 24 minutes, courtesy of strikes from Jack Midson and Murray but The Sports roared back to level proceedings before the break.

Andy Atkin nodded home from close range for the visitors’ first and Matt Crabb restored parity in first-half injury time, also heading home from six yards.

And Gargan completed the turnaround with just 12 minutes left on the clock, powering his header past Danny Naisbitt, before Murray broke Eastbourne hearts with the last kick of the game.

Oxford United 1 Mansfield 0

Craig Nelthorpe’s 60th-minute goal settled this particularly tight encounter as Oxford picked up their sixth win in seven games.

A frenetic opening half saw both sides have good chances to break the deadlock, with neither side able to capitalise.

Only a fine block by Stags defender Paul Mayo denied Damian Batt a certain goal for The U’s, before Mayo drew a fine save from Oxford stopper Billy Turley.

But it was Nelthorpe, on loan from Doncaster, who settled matters, firing home from close range after excellent work from James Constable.

Barrow 1 Grays Athletic 1

On-loan striker Andy Pugh rescued a point for Grays in this relegation six-pointer with fellow strugglers Barrow.

In a game neither side could afford to lose, it was the hosts who drew first blood when Jason Walker smashed home just before the hour mark.

But just seven minutes later 20-year-old Pugh, on loan from Gillingham, pounced on the loose ball to ensure the spoils were shared at Holker Street.

George Beavan might have snatched the win for the visitors in the closing stages but he could not direct his header on target as both sides remain in the drop zone.

Lewes 0 Cambridge United 2

Cambridge have maintained their pursuit of runaway leaders Burton with their third successive away win at rock-bottom Lewes.

Despite the visitors’ barrage of pressure on the Lewes goal, it looked as though The Rooks might escape with a point with proceedings still scoreless with just ten minutes to go.

But the pressure finally told when Lewes defender Anthony Barness was adjudged to have fouled Chris Holroyd in the box, and Scott Rendell duly converted the spot-kick.

And The U’s made the points safe on 85 minutes when Robbie Willmott rose highest to nod Courtney Pitt’s corner home.

Altrincham 1 Woking 0

Chris Senior’s solitary strike was enough to give Altrincham all three points and leave Woking looking over their shoulders at the foot of the table.

A furious opening to the match saw Cards forward Wilfried Domoraud bring an excellent save out of Richard Acton in The Robins goal.

But Senior’s seventh strike of the season broke the deadlock on 27 minutes as he wriggled free and unleashed a fierce drive from ten yards.

Domoraud had Woking’s best chance to salvage a point at the death, but with the goal beckoning he skewed his shot harmlessly over the bar.

Crawley 0 Salisbury 3

Salisbury continued their recent mini-revival with an impressive victory at Crawley, courtesy of goals either side of half time from Darrell Clarke and Charlie Griffin.

Clarke opened the scoring just two minutes before the half-time interval, firing home from the edge of the six-yard box.

Just three minutes after the restart, Salisbury found themselves two up. This time Clarke turned provider and teed up Griffin who powered his shot past Simon Rayner in the Crawley goal.

And substitute Daniel Webb put the icing on the cake for The Whites, measuring his shot into the bottom corner in time added on.
