Blue Square Premier preview

by Setanta.com staff , 02 March 2009

It’s getting interesting at both ends of the Blue Square Premier and all the news from the midweek games is right here.

Stevenage v Forest Green
Stevenage boss Graham Westley has defensive problems as Boro bid for their 11th straight win at home to Forest Green.

Ronnie Henry and Darren Murphy missed the win at Altrincham while Jon Ashton limped off at Moss Lane so Westley will be forced to use a makeshift backline again.

Rovers midfielder Lee Fowler is poised for a recall at the expense of Paul Lloyd after a poor display in the 1-1 draw with Grays.

Boss Jim Harvey was far from happy with his side’s performance and could make wholesale changes but keeper Terry Burton will keep his place after a string of fine saves against Grays.

Crawley v Wrexham
Santos Gaia and Gavin Hurren will make their home debuts for Crawley following their arrivals from Weymouth and Mansfield last week.

Hurren impressed off the bench in the 1-1 draw with Cambridge and is likely to replace Danny Forrest in the starting XI.

Wrexham’s promotion push has received a hammer blow with the news that striker Marc Williams broke a metatarsal in the 1-1 draw with Salisbury.

Former Cameroon international Patrick Suffo will replace Williams at Crawley while boss Dean Saunders scours the loan market for another striker.

Grays v Torquay
Grays boss Gary Phillips will keep faith with the same side that drew at Forest Green for the visit of high-flying Torquay.

Fit-again defender Fabian Wilnis came through the match unscathed and he will again partner Jamie Stuart at the heart of the defence.

Elliot Benyon will get the nod in the Gulls attack after coming off the bench to score both goals in the 2-0 win over Oxford at the weekend.

But boss Paul Buckle will be without fellow striker Roscoe DSane after he picked up a four-match ban for his red card at the Kassam Stadium, his second red card of the season.

Eastbourne v Oxford
Eastbourne boss Garry Wilson is hoping to tie up a deal for a new striker before the clash with Oxford after Sports were beaten 2-0 by ten-man Kidderminster at the weekend.

Wilson was furious with his side’s showing at Aggborough and is set to wield the axe ahead of Oxford’s arrival.

The U’s will be without winger Craig Nelthorpe after his sending off against Torquay and his place will go to new signing Kevin Sandwith.

Striker Yemi Odubade is in line for a recall at his former club with Craig Farrell likely to make way.

Kettering v Altrincham
Wingers Richard Graham and Jean-Paul Marna are chasing starting places after coming off the bench in the 0-0 draw with Northwich.

Midfielder Andre Boucard is also set to return after being rested at The Vics.

Altrincham defender Chris Lane is expected to recover from illness to make his 350th Conference appearance at Rockingham Road.

The former Southport full back missed the defeat against Stevenage but will replace James Smith.

Woking v Kidderminster
Woking ended a four-game losing run with a battling point against leaders Burton at the weekend and boss Phil Gilchrist will name the same team.

Former Watford midfielder Micah Hyde impressed on his debut and The Cards will again look to him as they look for their first goal in six matches.

Kidderminster are without suspended full back Craig Arsmtrong after the veteran’s red card in the win over Eastbourne.

Lee Baker will take his place but Mark Yates has doubts over strike trio Darryl Knights, Justin Richards and Stefan Moore.

Salisbury v Rushden
Resurgent Salisbury will remain unchanged from the team that drew at Wrexham as they look to extend their unbeaten run to four games.

Chris Todd and Michael Brough have made a huge difference to the Whites squad since signing from Torquay and are set to continue in defence and midfield.

Rushden boss Justin Edinburgh will give a full debut to on-loan QPR winger Chris Arthur after he came off the bench against Mansfield at the weekend.

Marcus Kelly will make way with striker Sam Smith in contention to start at The Raymond McEnhill Stadium.
