Crawley boosted their play-off hopes with a win over fellow promotion rivals Wrexham, while Torquay were narrow winners over struggling Grays.
Stevenage 1 Forest Green 1
Stevenage had to come from behind to maintain their unbeaten start to 2009 against Forest Green thanks to Mitchell Cole’s first half penalty.
Accrington loanee Andrew Mangan’s goalscoring run continued in the 27th minute when he pounced on poor Boro defending and netted his fifth in three games to gift Rovers the lead.
But Graham Westley’s troops hit back just six minutes later when midfielder Cole slotted home from the spot after David Brown hauled down former Grays defender Jon Ashton.
Striker Mangan continued to trouble home keeper Chris Day but could not find a way through in the second half while Boro defender Ronnie Henry also tried but failed.
Grays 1 Torquay 2
Torquay midfielder Wayne Carlisle’s last-gasp effort saw The Gulls record back-to-back victories and sink Grays ever closer to the bottom four.
Paul Buckle’s troops flew out of the blocks and were rewarded for their early dominance when former Forest Green defender Kevin Nicholson powered home Nicky Wroe’s 13th minute free-kick.
However The Gulls sat back and invited Grays on with disastrous consequences and when Chris Robertson hauled down Andy Pugh on the edge of the area, Chester loanee Tony Dinning fired home the free-kick after 26 minutes.
Torquay were in no mood to settle for a point at Bridge Road and after dominating the second half, former Bristol Rovers midfielder Carlisle finally netted following a string of chances from Elliot Benyon’s through ball in the 87th minute.
Crawley 1 Wrexham 0
Crawley midfielder Simon Weatherstone netted his second goal in three games as Steve Evans’ men extended their unbeaten run to three against play-off rivals Wrexham.
The hosts had keeper Simon Rayner to thank as Wrexham dominated the first half with the 25-year-old denying both Jefferson Louis and Andrew Crofts.
But it was a completely different story after the break and after former Weymouth striker Louis again went close Weatherstone sealed the deal in the 75th minute with a smart strike from the edge of the area.
Eastbourne Borough 0 Oxford 3
Oxford duo Simon Clist and Craig Farrell both netted second half goals as The U’s made light work of securing all three points against Eastbourne.
Former Carlisle midfielder Adam Murray set the tone in the 44th minute when he used a strong wind to his advantage and beat Boro keeper Lee Hook direct from a corner.
The hosts had to wait until the 71st minute to grab a second and effectively seal the win when Murray turned provider and allowed Clist to slot home with ease.
York loanee Farrell put the result well and truly beyond doubt deep into injury time – Clist following Murray’s lead and setting up the 26-year-old to fire home from an acute angle.
Kettering 3 Altrincham 1
Kettering striker Jean-Paul Marna bagged a double as Kettering's march towards the play-offs gathered further pace against Altrincham.
Kettering had not lost since in the league since January and looked set to continue their unbeaten run when Marna netted from close range in the tenth minute.
Altrincham gave The Poppies a scare in the 63rd minute when defender Shaun Densmore pulled the visitors level only for Marna to again torment their defence.
The 28-year-old rounded off a fine solo effort to give Kettering the lead again in the 73rd minute before defender Brett Solkhon made the result certain in injury time.
Woking A Kidderminster A
Woking missed the chance to ease their growing relegations worries after torrential rain at The Kingfield Stadium saw their clash against Kidderminster abandoned after 63 minutes.
The Cards – who held runaway leaders Burton to a goalless draw on Saturday – started positively and nearly took the lead in the sixth minute but Reading loanee Oliver Bozanic failed to trouble Harriers keeper Adam Bartlett.
Kidderminster came close through former Weymouth midfielder Chris McPhee but Woking’s pitch became increasingly waterlogged and referee John Hopkins had no choice but to bring the game to a halt with half-an-hour left to play.
