Wycombe missed the chance to close the gap on League Two leaders Brentford on Saturday, with both teams claiming draws.
Third-placed Bury took all three points against Rochdale and Bradford hammered Aldershot 5-0.
Bradford 5 Aldershot 0
Peter Thorne grabbed a brace as Bradford produced a five-star display to keep the pressure on those in the automatic promotion places.
Bradford returned to winning ways against Macclesfield in midweek and Thorne got them on course to make it six points from six inside 74 seconds.
Stuart McCall’s day got better on 14 minutes when Dean Furman rifled home a strike from outside the box before Throne bagged his 14th of the campaign with a near post header from a Nicky Law corner.
The win was complete late on when Barry Conlon struck his 11th of the season and there was still time for Aldershot’s miserable afternoon to worsen when Rhys Day put through his own net in injury time.
Grimsby 5 Lincoln 1
Doubles from Adam Proudlock and Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro helped Grimsby to a morale-boosting win that moved them out of the relegation places.
Grimsby came into the game on the back of five straight defeats, but Proudlock maintained their hopes of avoiding relegation four minutes before the break.
However, Lincoln equalised on 58 minutes when Tom Newey was controversially adjudged to have handled the ball in the area and Dany N’Guessan stroked home the resulting penalty.
But this only awoke Grimsby and after youngster Akpa Akpro scored his first goal for the club, Danny Boshell extended the lead eight minutes from time.
There was still more to come with Proudlock grabbing his second and then Akpa Akpro also helped himself to a second in stoppage time.
Wycombe 1 Chesterfield 1
John-Paul Pittman struck three minutes into time added on to keep Wycombe firmly in the promotion picture as they gained an undeserved draw against Chesterfield.
Chesterfield have proved difficult to beat on their travels of late – losing only one in six – and Jack Lester put them ahead with his 17th of the season, sliding the ball home from 12 yards after fastening onto Kevin Austin’s clearance.
The goal was a dent for Wycombe – who came into the game without conceding in their last four – and Matt Phillips and Chris Zebrowski both wasted decent chances to equalise.
Lester then should have extended Chesterfield’s lead but his penalty was saved by Jamie Young and the visitors were made to pay when Pittman finished from Nathan Ashton’s cross.
Rotherham 0 Brentford 0
Brentford remain at the top of the table despite a fairly uneventful afternoon at Rotherham, who if anything shaded proceedings.
Chances were few and far between for much of the afternoon with Brentford keeper Ben Hamer proving to be in good form to deny Jamie Green and Jamie Clarke.
At the other end, Andy Warrington also had to be alert to deny Sam Wood as it ended honours even.
Accrington Stanley 0 Gillingham 2
Goals in either half from Simeon Jackson and Dennis Oli proved to be enough to help Gillingham to a routine win against out-of-form Accrington Stanley.
Gillingham got off to a great start when top-scorer Jackson grabbed his 15th of the campaign from close range after Accrington failed to deal with a Simon King shot.
Accrington came into the game without a win in seven games and their hopes of ending this run were dashed when Oli finished off Nicky Southall’s cross from close range.
Shrewsbury 3 Notts County 2
Shrewsbury kept their play-off aspirations firmly on track with a hard-fought win over mid-table Notts County.
The visitors got off to a strong start when Richard Butcher fired home from long-range on 16 minutes, but Moses Ashikodi’s first goal since arriving at Shrewsbury from Watford pulled the home side level within three minutes.
Grant Holt then put the home side ahead from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Delroy Facey before Graham Coughlin appeared to have sealed the win from Ben Davies’ corner.
And despite Jonathan Forte pulling one back six minutes from time, the home side held out.
Barnet 3 Chester 1
Barnet made it ten points from 12 as they continued to surge away from the relegation places after a strong second half performance proved too much for freefalling Chester.
Barnet came into the game in good form and this seemed set to continue when John O’Flynn’s free-kick broke the deadlock four minutes after half time.
As Barnet have began to move up the league table, Chester haven’t been able to buy a win - failing to register a success in 13 efforts - but Kevin Ellison pulled them level following good work from Laurence Wilson.
However, after Paul Furlong was brought down in the box by Paul Linwood, O’Flynn stepped up to put Barnet ahead again before a Furlong header made the points safe.
Dagenham & Redbridge 0 Morecambe 2
Morecambe leapfrogged Dagenham & Redbridge in the table and kept their slim play-off hopes alive with an impressive victory inspired by Diurmuid O’Carroll.
Morecambe came into the game on an eight game unbeaten streak and O’Carroll put them on their way towards extending this run when he headed home Henry McStay’s cross on 13 minutes.
And within two minutes the lead was doubled as O’Carroll set up Stuart Drummond to notch up his seventh of the season as he found the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Darlington 1 Macclesfield 2
Macclesfield turned the tables on their recent dismal away form as a Gareth Evans double helped them to victory at Darlington.
The Silkmen have struggled for points on the road in recent weeks – losing their last four games away from Moss Rose – but a long-range strike from Evans put them ahead on 38 minutes.
Darlington responded on the hour when David Poole finished coolly from inside the penalty box, but Evans’ 11th of the campaign restored the visitors’ advantage within five minutes.
The goal came from the penalty spot after Clayton Fortune was adjudged to have unfairly challenged Emile Sinclair in the box.
Luton 1 Exeter 2
Exeter extended their unbeaten run to eight games after two early goals virtually condemned Luton to certain relegation.
Luton’s slim hopes of beating the drop were dealt a major blow early on when Adam Stansfield nodded in Liam Sercombe’s corner, before Sercombe doubled Exeter’s advantage on 29 minutes.
Tom Craddock gave Luton hope at the break as he pulled one back seven minutes half time, but despite second half chances for Craddock and Asa Hall there was to be no equaliser.
Bournemouth 0 Port Vale 0
Bournemouth have fallen back into the relegation places after they were unable to make their dominance count against Port Vale.
Bournemouth have won six of their last eight games at home to help in their battle to escape the relegation places, but despite dominating possession and having the better chances they proved toothless in attack.
Brett Pitman and Steve Fletcher were among those unable to find a way past Joe Anyon, who also had to be alert to thwart Mark Molesley.
