Cambridge strengthened their grip on second place with a 2-1 win over Mansfield, as Histon were beaten by struggling Barrow.
Barrow 1 v 0 Histon
Mark Boyd’s late strike lifted Barrow out of the relegation zone while putting a serious dent in Histon’s promotion push.
Boyd struck from close range just two minutes from time to steal a point from under The Stutes' nose.
Histon dominated much of the match with Antonio Murray twice going close as they piled on some early pressure but his two strikes in as many minutes could not find a way past Tim Deasy.
Simon Spender and Jason Walker both wasted excellent opportunities as Barrow threatened at the start of the second-half before Boyd had the last laugh.
Altrincham 0 v Torquay 1
Wayne Carlisle last-gasp winner was enough to extend high-flying Torquay’s unbeaten run to five games.
The Gulls dominated the first 20 minutes with right-winger Lee Mansell a constant threat but the visitors failed to turn their pressure into chances.
The second-half continued in that familiar fashion with Chris Hargreaves threatening the Alty defence and Matthew Green wasting a golden opportunity.
Centre-midfielder Kevin Nicholson was at the heart of everything as Torquay poured forward but it looked like they would have to settle for a point until Carlisle’s late intervention.
Wrexham 1 v Forest Green 1
Jefferson Louis’s 86th minute strike rescued a point for Wrexham as Forest Green stretched their unbeaten run to eight games.
The two sides created little in the first-half with former Crewe centre back Ashley Westwood going closest with a header four minutes before the break.
Andrew Mangan thought he had won it for the visitors when he notched his 16th of the season 14 minutes before time.
But Louis had the last laugh rescuing the point which leaves Dean Saunders’s side nine points adrift of the play-offs.
Cambridge United 2 v Mansfield 1
Cambridge moved to within eight points of runaway leaders Burton Albion thanks to Jai Reason’s 90th minute winner.
Mansfield, buoyed by news that Non-League legend Daryl Clare is joining them unil the end of the season, had earlier taken the lead through Robert Duffy.
But just four minutes after the interval The U’s were level when Scott Rendell headed home Scott Willmott’s cross.
And, with the game looking set for a draw, Reason rose highest to head home Paul Carden’s corner to nick all three points.
Kettering 0 v Grays Athletic 0
Grays had to settle for a point after they wasted a string of second-half chances against Kettering.
Kettering had the best of the early exchanges against their struggling opposition with Brett Solkhon and Andre Boucaud going close.
A different Grays emerged at the second-half and with the impressive Barry Cogan sending in some dangerous corners which the Poppies defence struggled to clear.
Stuart Elliot and Bradley Hudson-Odoi both had chances to nick a vital win for Grays in the last two minutes but the pair failed to convert leaving the visitors with just two wins away all season.
Kidderminster 2 v Crawley Town 0
Kidderminster moved level on points with fellow play-off hopefuls Crawley thanks to Justin Richards’ 13th of the season.
The fans had to wait until the 14th minute for the first chance of a goal but Darryl Knights’ free kick was not good enough to beat Simon Rayner in the Crawley net.
But Kidderminster’s pressure told in the 28th minute when right back Keith Lowe notched just his second goal of the season.
Ands the win was sealed for Harriers when the frontman converted after good work from the lively Knights.
Rushden & Diamonds 2 v 1 Lewes
Micheal Rankine’s second-half spot-kick was enough to pile more misery on rock-bottom Lewes.
Robert Wolleaston kicked off a frenetic opening period by firing Rushden ahead after just 118 second, converting from close range after good work from Marcus Kelly.
But Lewes were level within five minutes when frontman Rhys Henry reacted first in the box to slam the ball home.
Things got worse for the basement boys after the break when Chris Breach brought down Simon Downer in the box and Michael Rankine coolly slotted the decisive penalty.
Weymouth 0 v 4 Salisbury
Darrell Clarke inspired Salisbury to victory on yet another depressing day for Weymouth.
On a day when it was announced that the club’s financial saviour Stephen Beer had suffered a stroke the visitors dominated from the first whistle.
The Whites took the lead 15 minutes before the break when on-loan Torquay defender Chris Todd rose highest to meet Matthew Tubbs corner.
Tubbs made it two in the 56th minute before Charlie Griffin and Clarke’s strikes sealed a convincing win and piled yet more misery on the freefalling Terras.
