Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz is in the dark as to the extent of Deco’s ligament injury.
Chelsea midfielder Deco picked up a ligament injury during the Premier League clash with Manchester City that prompted manager Guus Hiddink to replace the former Barcelona player with Juliano Belletti on Sunday afternoon.
The Portugal international suffered from the same problem earlier in the season, and reports have claimed that he could be out for the season.
For his part, Queiroz has stated that he will not ‘speculate’ about Deco’s fitness until he is informed about the midfielder’s health.
“It’s a shame that Deco is out. We don’t have precise news [about his health] but it’s just an impression,” Queiroz told a press conference.
“First of all, the player had an impression straight after the game, but a few hours after the game his feeling was different.
“As a consequence, we should not speculate about something we don’t know.”
